The Lure of the Dark

Following in a centuries-old painting tradition, the contemporary painters featured in The Lure of the Dark explore the poetic potential of the night and its various, often contradictory associations—romance, sex and freedom, but also terror and death. The contrasts presented in the exhibition—between associations, historic and contemporary painting, and literal light and darkness—served as the inspiration for the visual identity.
